South Los Angeles, CA – What began as a single rental property has grown into a mission-driven business reshaping the housing landscape in South L.A. Daniel and Tanisha Leathers, founders of Welcome Home Property Management, LLC, are demonstrating how local ownership and responsible property management can uplift neighborhoods and create long-term community stability.
The Leathers’ journey started with one home and a simple desire to help a family find a well-managed, dependable place to live. When a client from Daniel’s banking career later entrusted him with managing an inherited property, the couple realized the broader potential of their work. Their commitment to service, fairness, and professionalism became the foundation for Welcome Home Property Management, established on October 2, 2017.
Built in South Los Angeles, the company provides full-service property management, including tenant screening, marketing, rent collection, maintenance coordination, financial reporting, and eviction protection. Their approach centers on respect for both property owners and the residents who call those homes their own.
Seeking to expand responsibly, the Leathers partnered with the PCR Business Finance SBDC of the Los Angeles Network. With guidance from SBDC advisors, Daniel restructured the business entity, strengthened operational systems, and secured key certifications – including Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), Local Small Business Enterprise (LSBE), and Small Business Enterprise (SBE) – positioning the company for new contracting and growth opportunities.
In 2025, Welcome Home Property Management received a loan through PCR’s Revolving Loan Fund, enabling the business to restructure ramp-up debt, hire additional staff, and prepare for increased service demand. This strategic investment has accelerated the company’s ability to scale while maintaining its community-centered mission.
“PCR has been instrumental in our growth,” Daniel said. “They helped us move from managing one property to managing many, while staying true to our purpose—serving and strengthening our community.”
Today, Daniel and Tanisha are building more than a business. They are advancing economic mobility, improving housing experiences for local families, and contributing to the revitalization of South Los Angeles—one property at a time.
